Assists with patients using appropriate techniques and procedures to perform minor hearing aid repairs, cleanings and programming. Sends hearing aids out for difficult or extensive repair. Orders new hearing aids for patients as directed by audiologist. Assists audiologist in direct patient care as needed per site. Communicates with audiologist and other members of the health care team. Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient questions and needs. Performs occupational health hearing tests and counseling per site requirements. Provides office support including scheduling appointments, organizing/preparing exam rooms, cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, checking equipment, managing referrals and prior authorizations and processing work queues. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess and interpret patient data. Licensure and certifications required include Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) certification within 2 years, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification unless exempted, and Audiology Assistant Certification within 1 year. Education required is High School Graduate. No experience required. Knowledge of occupational hearing standards, ability to multitask efficiently, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems are required. Physical requirements include ability to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform various physical movements. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical hazards and blood/body fluids requires protective clothing or equipment. Operates all necessary equipment.
